There a few steps you can take and different topics you can put on your CV that you’ve experienced as an individual to stand out from the crowd.

Hiring managers receive multiple CVs a day from multiple recruitment agencies, so you need to put something in your CV on the first page that makes you stand out and draws the reader in.

To highlight diversity on your CV, there a couple of things you can do.

Firstly, explain your ability to work in a team. This could be on a project you led or of which you were a part. Talk about how you collaborated with team members to overcome problems and challenges which arose during the project. It may sound simple, and something you want to be singing about already, but you would be surprised how many candidates miss these skills off of their CV. It shows the hiring manager that not only can you work well as part of a team, but that you are able to work with a range of individuals.

Secondly, and most importantly, you can talk about how you take initiative in your own learning and development around diversity and inclusion. Talk about webinars and seminars you have attended which speak about topics around diversity and inclusion, in particular in the IT solutions provider channel. Talk about training you have undertaken, workshops in which you have participated, work you’ve done in the community. These not only show off your initiative to learn and develop yourself and your career, but the hiring manager will clearly see your interest in improving diversity and inclusion in your industry.

By showing those aspects of your character on your CV, you will show hiring managers that you care about diversity and inclusion. Team players and conscientious individuals are always in demand!”
