How to Improve your Employees’ Work-Life Balance

It’s not only important to think about your employees’ work-life balance.

You have to act on it too.

Finding methods and processes for giving your employees’ flexibility in their work will help increase satisfaction and productivity, benefiting them and your business.

Our Co-Founder Tim Cazemage tells us how IT Solutions & Services Providers can improve their employees’ work-life balance:

“As a Sales Director I can be very face-paced, target driven and focussed around numbers and success.

However I also believe it’s imperative that we incorporate work-life balance through the team and across the entire business.

All businesses should be working with their staff more, discovering what drives and motivates them. By finding these things out, on top of what they enjoy outside of work, it’s far easier to promote quality of life across your employees.

By encouraging your team to get away from their computers and step out for a walk, exercise or lunch you will see real improvements in the productivity and quality of work from your staff.

It’s so important to find time to improve your well-being and to give yourself a chance to disengage from busy days in the office.

There are many things you can encourage your employees to encourage improvements in their work-life balance. These include:

  • Go for a walk
  • Exercise
  • Meditate
  • Eat healthier food
  • Meet friends and family
  • Listen to music
  • Read a book
  • Drink lots of water

There are so many ways that you and your employees can disengage from the busy work day.

Mental health should be an important topic each and every day, not simply relegated to a week each year.

As businesses, it’s easy to see the numbers and forget about the people working behind them. But by putting their mental health first, you will see vast improvements in business growth.

A few ideas include:

  • Letting go of the need for perfection on certain tasks
  • Encouraging employees unplug and unwind
  • Offer flexibility in how, when and where employees work
  • Focus on productivity and not total hours worked
  • Have regular reviews on workloads
  • Ensure leadership are showing a good work-life balance
  • Consider more time off for employees
  • Increase support for parents
  • Offer perks which encourage exercise and well-being

By making changes to the way you think about mental health across your business, you will not only give your employees greater work and life satisfaction but also increase productivity as a result.”
