Tailor Your Job Application To The Job Description
Cloud & IT Infrastructure professionals will probably move between multiple companies over their careers.
This also means plenty of job applications.
It’s imperative for those looking for top cloud jobs to tailor their applications to the job description.
Owen Harris tells us why:
“Job specifications and job adverts are of course very different.
Job adverts will usually have very targeted information as they want to encourage the reader to get to the end and so sell the opportunity quickly and efficiently.
Job descriptions are far more detailed than job adverts.
It’s really important that candidates tailor their CVs and job applications to the specifications.
You could do this by tailoring from a duties and responsibilities perspective. For example if you are applying for a Design & Implementation role, instead of talking on your CV about a range of functions you would want to provide as much detail as possible on your work with high level design, low level design, implementation, customer consultation, being customer-facing, providing solutions and services to multiple customers etc.
If you’re applying for Microsoft Azure jobs, don’t talk about on prem technologies! Instead, talk about Azure, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS etc.
This principle is the same for networking, virtualisation, any kind of Cloud & IT Infrastructure technology.
When applying for cloud jobs, tailor your application to the duties and responsibilities and key skills stated on the job description.
This will give you a much stronger position to succeed in your cloud jobs search.”
