Use interview feedback to enhance your personal profile
You’ve recently been interviewing at potential employers.
If you’re unsuccessful, don’t feel disheartened!
Even if it didn’t work out this time, there are still benefits to take from the experience.
Owen Harris explains how Cloud & IT Infrastructure professionals can use interview feedback to enhance their personal profile:
“I’m a big believer in the idea that negative feedback is far better than no feedback.
Here at InfraView we pride ourselves on our candidate feedback. We let our candidates know their feedback throughout the hiring process with 24/48 hour intervals between calls to make sure they know that we’re working hard on their behalf.
There are two main ways you can use feedback from the interviewing process to enhance your personal profile; culture and skills.
Depending on the role, you may receive negative feedback based on one or both of these two facets.
It may be the case that your culture and the culture of the business don’t align. Don’t take this personally! It’s not a negative reflection on your personality, but that what you and the employer are looking for aren’t quite the same. You can use this to your advantage. Going forward, you will be more aware of the kinds of businesses you should apply to, whether that’s the business’ size, industry or another area of company culture.
The other factor is your technical skills. If you’re an Azure Consultant applying to Cloud jobs, you might not fit the candidate profile for that particular position. If it’s an area you want to move into, you can take this feedback on board to upskill in other technical areas and set yourself up for the future you want.
Doing those things will allow you to build out your personal profile, target select employers and become more successful in future hiring processes.”
